Home electrical inspection and second opinions

If you have concerns about your home’s electrical system, or you’ve been told you need a major repair or upgrade and want another professional’s honest assessment before you commit, we’re glad to take a look and tell you what we see. We do this as our Electrical Safety / Second-Opinion Assessment, a paid visit.

Not a permit inspection

“Inspection” can also mean the inspection that goes with a building permit. The City of Inverness, for example, runs its own permitting and electrical inspections. Our assessment is not that. It is our own independent look, booked by you, at a concern you have about your electrical system or at whether a repair or upgrade someone else recommended is actually needed.

What the assessment covers

The assessment covers the concern you book it for, or the repair or upgrade someone else recommended. You shouldn’t have to take anyone’s word for it. We look at the parts of your panel, outlets and wiring involved, photograph what we find and use testing and thermal imaging when appropriate, so you see the problem for yourself.

Then we explain it in plain language: what the problem is, what caused it, and what your options are.

What you come away with

Every recommendation is sorted into three groups:

  • What needs attention now: anything that’s a safety concern or is causing the problem you called about.
  • What can wait: things worth keeping an eye on. You’ll know what to watch for.
  • What to plan for: upgrades you may want down the road.

No pressure to decide on the spot. Then the decision is yours.

“He took the time to explain everything, answered all my questions, and made sure the job was done right.” (Bobby Boyd, Google review)
